How to beat the bloat this summer

With summer in full swing, we’ve rounded up our top 5 tips for keeping bellies bloat-free this sunny season.

  1. Drink up

Water that is! The easiest way to ward off a bloated belly is to make sure you’re guzzling down the recommended intake of 2 litres of water per day. For even more of a tummy-taming kick, add fresh cucumber and lemon slices or a combination of your favourite fresh fruit such as berries and sliced peaches for an all-natural take on vitamin water – yum!

  1. Get moving

The best way to beat the bloat is with regular exercise, however we know it’s not always easy to fit in regular gym sessions when the weather warms up. The solution? High performance functional fitness – a revolutionary branch of training that enables you to work out smarter, not longer. Pioneering the movement is Transition Zone’s brand new HiPer Zone. Featuring a fitness experience that wouldn’t be out of place in a professional athletes training schedule – the HiPer Zone is comprised of state-of-the-art heart rate monitoring technology to ensure you get the best out of your workout, every time you train.

  1. Ditch the booze

Whilst it’s totally acceptable to indulge in a few glasses of prosecco on a balmy summers day, if you’re looking to beat the bloat brought on by a few too many sneaky indulgences, try to limit your consumption of alcohol to a glass or two, twice a week. For an alcohol-free option just as decadent as a summer cocktail, sip on a tall glass of sparkling water with fresh lime juice and a sprig of belly-loving fresh mint as a hydrating and deliciously refreshing alternative.

  1. Load up on fibre

For a bloat-free belly, regularity in the bathroom department is absolutely essential. To ensure you’re getting in the recommended daily intake of this vital nutrient, be sure to load up on lots of seasonable summer fruit and veg, wholegrains like oats and quinoa and super-fibre-foods like chia seeds and flaxseeds. For an all-natural quick fix to your fibre woes, start your day with a filling and refreshing chia pudding! We love this recipe.

  1. Start your day with a green juice or smoothie

Nothing quite beats an invigorating green juice or smoothie packed full of your favourite summer fruit and veg first thing in the morning. Not only does making this a part of your daily summer routine ensure you start your day on the healthiest note, but the consumption of nutrient-dense liquids first thing in the morning as opposed to solid foods gives your digestive system a chance to rest and digest more efficiently, eliminating the main bloat inducing culprits and encouraging detoxification. Enjoy alongside your breakfast or add a spoonful of almond butter or natural protein powder into the mix for a complete meal option.
