Well January went off with a bang didn’t it? No slow and easy start to the new year at Luxley HQ as we were very much focused on asking as many people as was humanly possible to smear their lipstick and take a photo of it for their social media. Why? It was all part of the Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust #SmearForSmear campaign, which launched during Cervical Cancer Prevention Week and was intended to get people talking about their smear test and making sure they booked their appointment. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in under 35 year olds yet only one in three go for their smear test. That’s scary. So we teamed up with the wonderful team at Jo’s to encourage as many people as possible to go for their smear test. And it went BONKERS. Thanks to each and every one of you who took part. We saw thousands of women (and a few men) posting their #SmearForSmear selfies, combined with over 700 pieces of coverage, some primetime TV and Theresa May discussing her smear test in parliament. WOW. What a brilliant way to start the year. Now, if you’re reading this and haven’t booked your smear test, you know what to do….
