100 days to Rio
APRIL//Party time! On Wednesday 27th April 2016, celebrations were kick-started by Olympics Games OMEGA Ambassador and Olympic and World Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis-Hill and OMEGA Vice-President Raynald Aeschlimann. The pair hosted a very special VIP dinner to mark 100 days to go to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at London’s Sushi Samba. Guests sipped on caipirinha cocktails and listened to vibrant musical performances before a seven-course Brazilian-Japanese fusion tasting menu was served.
As official time keepers to the Olympic and Paralympic Games the evening celebrated the start of the official count down to the Rio 2016 Olympics. Reflecting on her partnership with OMEGA, Jessica Ennis-Hill commented, ‘I have worked with OMEGA for six years now, and their role at the Olympic Games is an essential service to the athletes. The first thing I do when I finish a competition is look for the OMEGA clock. It is great to celebrate 100 days to go with them and experience a taste of Rio.’
Guests were also treated to a sneak-preview of what’s in store at OMEGA House Rio later this summer. These included actresses Anna Friel and Camilla Rutherford, TV presenter Gethin Jones, Former Olympic Swimmer Mark Foster and athletes Marlon Devonish and Christian Malcolm as well as Jessica and friends of OMEGA– to name but a few!
Beautiful dancers from Brazilian Fantasy wearing stunning carnival costumes entertained the 200 guests throughout the night with their samba performances– for one night the Carnival spirit transported us to the streets of Rio. Let the countdown commence!
